3D Heart Applique - free pattern


3D Heart Appliqe
Will Need/Need to Know
  • G- hook
  • caron simply soft yarn
  • needle to sew in ends
  • ( ) holds needed info and number of stitches
  • [ ] repeat whats inside
  • 1st chains do not count as 1st stitch
Abbreviations
ch- chain
st(s)- stitch(s)
sl st- slip stitch
sc- single crochet
dc- double crochet
sc dec- single crochet decrease
dc dec- double crochet decrease


Gauge
9 stitches x 9 rows = 2 inches

Heart

  1. make a magic circle, ch 1, sc 5 times in circle, pull tight, join to 1st sc (5sc)
  2. ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, join to 1st sc (10sc)
  3. ch 1, [2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st] repeat around, join to 1st sc (15sc)
  4. ch 1, 1 sc in each st around, join to 1st sc (15sc)
  5. repeat 4
  6. repeat 4, tie off
  7. repeat 1-6 but do not tie off
  8. line stitches of both ends of heart together and sl st 5 sets of sts together, now we are going to ignore those 5 sl st's and go around both fin ends as they were one, ch 1, 1 sc in each st around, join to 1st sc (20sc)                  
  9. ch 2, dc dec across next 2 sts, 1 sc in each of the next 6 sts, [dc dec across next 2 sts] repeat 1 more time, 1 sc in each of the next 6 sts, dc dec across last 2 sts, join to 1st dc (16dc)
  10. ch 1, 1 sc in each of the next 4 sts, [sc dec across next 2 sts, 1 sc in each of the next 4 sts] repeat around, join in 1st sc (14sc)
  11. ch 1, [1sc in each of the next 2 sts, sc dec across next 2 sts] repeat around, 1 sc in last st, join to 1st sc (10sc)
  12. ch 1, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, [sc dec across next 2 sts, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts] repeat around, join in 1st sc (8sc)
  13. ch 1, [sc dec across next 2 sts] repeat around, join to 1st sc, tie off (4sc)

  1. Very nice! I will give it a try tomorrow! In row 8 when you say ignore 5 sl sts and go around both fin ends as they were one! Do you just mean crochet both pieces together? I think that was the only part I kinda was confused! Thanks again! Manda!

Would love to see it when you done, and at that point (row 8) you will have 2 half balls and you slip stitch the two pieces together and then yes you crochet both pieces together but you ignore the 5 slip stitches in the middle and go around in one circle around the two making them one ... hope that helps
