Need/Need to Know
  • H hook
  • needle to sew in ends
  • Red Heart with Love yarn in red and orange
  • Red Heart Super Saver yarn in yellow
  • need to know how to make a pom pom
  • ( ) holds needed info and number of stitches
  • [ ] repeat whats inside
  • do not turn unless stated in pattern

Gauge
8 stitches X 4 row = 2 inches

Abbreviations
ch- chain
st(s)- stitch(s)
sc- single crochet
hdc- half double crochet
dc- double crochet
FLO- front loop only
FL- front loop
BL- back loop

Hat
  1. in yellow, make magic circle, 10 dc in magic circle, pull tight, join (10dc)
  2. ch 2 (does not count as dc), 2 dc in each st around, join (20dc)
  3. ch 2 (does not count as dc), [2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st] repeat around, join (30dc)
  4. ch 2 (does not count as dc), [1 dc in each of the next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st] repeat around, join (40dc)
  5. ch 2 (does not count as dc), [2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts] repeat around, join (50dc)
  6. ch 2 (does not count as dc), [1 dc in each of the nest 4 sts, 2 dc in next st] repeat around, join (60dc)
  7. ch 2 (does not count as dc), [2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of the next 5 sts] repeat around, join (70dc)
  8. ch 2 (does not count as dc), 1 dc in each st around, join (70dc)
  9. repeat row 8, 1 more time in yellow, 5 more times in orange, turn after last orange row

  11. change to red, ch 1 (does not count as hdc), work this row in FL and side loop of hdc, [1hdc in each of the next 4 sts, 2 hdc in next st] repeat around, join (84hdc)
  12. ch 2 (does not count as dc), work this row in Bl and side loop of hdc, [2 dc in next st, 1 dc in each of the next 5 sts] repeat around, join, tie off, sew in all ends (98dc)

Pom Pom Band
  1. ch 70, join to 1st ch, 1 hdc in each st around, join, tie off, sew in ends (70hdc)
  2. make pom pom in whatever way your comfortable with
  3. sew pom pom to band and sew in your ends and its ready to be placed around the hat. Now you can sew it onto the hat if you don't want it coming off but I thought the removable pom was nice so that way you had a headband if you wanted or if the hat got to warm.
