Puppy's Picnic Bow - free crochet pattern

Puppy's Picnic Bow
Will Need/Need to Know
  • G hook
  • caron simply soft yarn 2 colors my colors are neon green A and light purple B
  • needle to sew in ends
  • ( ) holds number of stitches and need to know info
  • [ ] repeat whats inside
  • Sizes are xxsmall(xsmall, small, medium, large) and appear in pattern as such
  • sizes measure about 9in(10in,12in,14in,16in) around
  • please measure around you dogs head first to insure right size and fit

Gauge
9 stitches x 10 rows not including stating chain = 2 inches

Abbreviations
ch- chain
st(s)- stitch(s)
sp(s)- space(s)
sk- skip
sc- single crochet
dc- double crochet

Cowl
  1. using color A, ch 40(44,52,60,68), join in 1st ch, ch 1(does not count as sc), sc in 1st st, ch 3, sk 3 sts, [sc in next st, ch 3, sk 3 sts] repeat around, tie off (10,11,13,15,17 sc's & ch sps)
  2. using color B, connect in ch 3 sp, ch 3(counts as dc), 2 dc in same ch 3 sp, ch 1, sk sc, [3 dc in next ch 3 sp, ch 1, sk sc] repeat around, join in 3rd ch of 1st 3, tie off (30,33,39,45,51dc) (10,11,13,15,17 ch sps)
  3. using color A, connect in ch 1 sp, ch 1(does not count as sc), sc in same ch 1 sp, ch 3, sk 3 dc, [sc in next ch 1 sp, ch 3, sk 3 dc] repeat around, join in 1st sc, tie off (10,11,13,15,17 sc's & ch sps)
  4. repeat 2
  5. repeat 3, xxs & xs tie off
  • small repeat rows 2 & 3, 1 more time, tie off
  • medium repeat rows 2 & 3, 2 more times, tie off
  • large repeat rows 2 & 3, 3 more times, tie off
  • all sizes sew in all ends when done

Bow
  1. using color A, ch 16, sc in 2nd ch from hook, and each st across, turn (15sc)
  2. ch 2 (does not count as dc), 1 dc in each st across, turn (15dc)
  3. repeat 2
  4. repeat 2
  5. ch 1(does not count as sc), 1 sc in each st across, tie off (15sc)
  6. using color B, connect yarn in same sc we tied off in, ch 1 (does not count as sc), 1 sc in each of the next 15 sts, turn work on its side counter clock wise, ch 1, 1 sc in side of sc, 2 sc in each side of the next 3 dc, 1 sc in side of sc, turn work on its side counter clock wise, ch 1, 1 sc in each of the next 15 sts, turn work on its side counter clock wise, ch 1, 1 sc in side of sc, 2 sc in each side of the next 3 dc, 1 sc in side of sc, ch 1, join to 1st sc, tie off (42sc)
  • sew in ends
  • using color B, tie yarn tightly to middle of the rectangle we just made, now wrap yarn tightly around to form middle of bow, when happy with size stop wrapping and tie tightly
  • now using the two lose ends from the middle of the bow sew it onto the cowl
  • sew in last 2 ends and done!
